 So nine months later I have the last few models for the Scouring of the Shire painted up!

 I picked these up almost a year ago i think, full of intentions to start a Corsairs of Umbar force, but like many plans it failed to materialize hehe:

These three heroes will give me a great start to this force in the new year with a box or two of warriors and a couple of packs of the arbalester's i should be done quite quickly.

Just a quickie today, here are the dismounts for my four heroes of the shire:

I think these are the original hobbits from the first metal fellowship box, i picked them up cheap on ebay, clipped off Frodo's sword and painted them up to match the mounted versions as best as possible.

The four Hobbits on foot i intend to use as dismounts have arrived and have the undercoat drying on so they will be started shortly hehe.

Im rotating round the limited pallet of colours for these regular Hobbits so each one will be an individual in the force rather than regimented soldiers like most of the factions in the game.

Im continuing to work through the models for our Scouring campaign, and here's the next lot:

Lord of the Rings: Scouring of the Shire Pt1

So a few weeks before Judgement Day happened a friend and i were discussing the Scouring of the Shire campaign book, and how cool it would be to play through all the missions! A few quick browses on GWs site and divvying up the forces (Me Hobbits, him Ruffians) and the first purchases were made.

Judgement Day has put a kibosh on actually playing it yet but we have both begun to paint up our collections, and here are my first offerings:

I went through the scenarios and added up all the individual models that i would need to play through and has so far picked up most of them:

12 Hobbit Militia, 8 Hobbit Sheriffs, 8 Hobbit Archers, Farmer Maggott & Doggies, Holfoot Bracegirdle, Robin Burrow, Will Whitefoot, Baldo Tulpenny, Hamfast Gamgee, Folco Boffin, Fatty Bolger, Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, Paladin Took, Farmer & Rosie Cotton, Merry, Pippin, Sam and Frodo.

Least they are all pretty small!

These last twenty two little beggers mean i can put this project to bed finally!

Now that this army is done i can look at getting my Moria and Thranduils Halls forces completed whoop.

We are now reaching some of the deeper levels of the pile of shame, and have come across my unfinished Goblin Town army for Lord of the Rings. There is quite the haul of these little beggers to do:

Here's 27 of a total of 73 haha, i need to smash these out asap!

Lord of the Rings: Rangers of Arnor

I've now finished this project to the desired level of 550pts by completing a warband of ten Rangers of Arnor:

Whilst they are characterful enough models they do now show their age a bit, they aren't a touch on modern plastic kits hehe, but the army is done and ready for events over the summer

With all the regular Warriors of Arnor completed i have moved on to the important command figures for my force:

Now that these are done i can start on the last warband which is ten Rangers of Arnor!

Lord of the Rings: For the Defence of Arnor!

As a break from painting up the Nurgle i have put together an army of Arnor for an event around the same time as the Essex GT hehe.

Arnor is a pretty limited faction compared to say Minas Tirith with only six choices but they are all quite good. First up is my largest warband of warriors:

All Warriors of Arnor come standard with spears and shields and a decent fight of 4 and Def 6... the downside is a courage 2!!! The army lives and dies by its ability to keep its main heroes; King Arvedui and Malbeth the Seer, alive and then form a close bubble of courage immune troops with a 5+ save hehe.

The TLDR of it all is that the army works as an elite horde army at smaller pts levels but falls apart quickly at larger than 600pts without allies.

Lord of the Rings: King of the Dead and Shelob

I've been meaning to pick up the plastic King and Heralds pack since it was released hehe, but only finally got round to it this weekend! Shelob too is a new addition... hateful model to build!

I have a couple of LoTR events booked in now for march and June, the Dead of Dunharrow / Return of the King Legion will be my good army for these for sure.

Lord of the Rings: Shagrat and Gorbag

Added a couple of new heroes to my Cirith Ungol force today:

Shagrat will be leading my Mordor Uruk Hai themed Cirith Ungol force soon, a friend of mine picked up Shelob for me at warhammer world and i have another warband of uruks on the way to paint and complete the force.

Not commonly seen on the boards outside of an Isengard scout force hehe, but they still have Str 4 and a good Shoot value of 4+ so might as well use it!
