Black Gate Miniatures: Ogre Mammoth Riders Regiment!

In all the kickstarter work, casting and prep, we forgot to get a unit of these painted for Black Gates display haha... Only discovered it as he has now built his website fully and was missing these!

Again great scuplts and casts as you would expect from Black Gate, and the whole range of 10mm Ogres are now for sale on the store, no excuses people, go buy it!

Black Gate Miniatures: Greenlings

Next on the paint station is this unit of the new Greenlings from Black Gate Miniatures, they were the last unit funded by the kickstarter and have caused a few problems getting moulded... but they are done now and are a joy to paint!

Its a good job as i have eight units of them coming for my own army haha

Black Gate Miniatures: Ogre Cannoneers

Starting off 2018 with something small... well, lots of something small haha, my Ogre army from Black Gate Miniatures!

From the first campaign i picked up four units of each of the Cannoneers, Warriors and Armoured Warriors, for a total of 108 individual models. This is my first project of the year, to complete these in time for the second campaigns haul to arrive and finish the army,

Again great fun to paint and very characterful, ive seen the Hill Giant and the Mammoths as well and im very much looking forward to painting them up for Black Gate too.

Black Gate Miniatures: Ogres, Ogres OGRES!

The last two days on this have gone mental, stretch after stretch has been smashed!

Here we have the Yeti's, available as add ons for 8 punds a unit

The next goal that was broken was for the "Savage Kin", grim feral Ogres that serve as shock troops in the army. Seen here on the right, also available for 8 pounds a unit:

Black Gate Miniatures: The time of the Mammoth is at hand

Following the completed shipping of the Ogre warriors, Armoured Warriors and Cannoneers back in April, Black Gate Miniatures are going back to kickstarter tomorrow to fund some rather furry additions to their line up!

Again Christian's concept art is spot on great, and Robi's sculpts from the infantry have been cracking so i know we are in for a treat!

The campaign will kick off tomorrow 26th June, and will run for 21 days till the 16th of July.

Funding starts at £500 for the Mammoth Riders which will cost 10 pounds per unit of three models, and most backers will be after two units to use in some existing game systems.

Stretch goals planned for the campaign include:

• Infantry Character set of two Shaman and two Heroes
• Mammoth Rider Hero
• Mammoth Rider Shaman
• And more!

The Ogre Infantry will all be available as add ons for 9 pounds each or four for 32 pounds!

Black Gate Miniatures: Armoured Ogres Painted

These are my favourite of the three unit types i've had the pleasure of painting, and im looking forward to getting my teeth into a much larger Ogre army of my own haha

Again same as the warriors from last month, these are great to paint up, and if work hadn't been such a killer last week they would have been done a lot sooner! Looking forward to Armoured Warriors hopefully soon!

Black Gate Miniatures: Painted Ogre Warriors

I've been honoured with the task of painting up the display models for Black Gate Miniatures line of Ogres, as well as their own demo armies! One of each model they produce to be painted up as well as i can, individually, rather than mass production line like you would normally do for small scale models.

Warmaster: BGM Ogres scale shot

I got hold of some for casts of Black Gate Miniatures Ogres to paint up so i decided to base them up as a unit. Here they are completed along side some other 10mm minis for scale:

I clipped of some of the excess base tab on them to fit better on the base, and despite being three different types of unit models they work really well together!

Black Gate Miniatures: Ogres Kickstarter is a go!!!

As the title says, the 10mm Ogres kickstarter i mentioned a while ago has begun and at this moment is nearly funded!

I managed to get Barry away from the forges for a little more info on it, Ogres and Black Gate Miniatures as a whole:

Readers will have seen the preview models that Sinister Squid Studios and myself have painted up over the last few weeks, which we both agree are fantastic minis to work with.

What prompted you to come up with and produce the range? And what made you decide on Ogres first?

First off, thanks for letting me share my creation with you! The history of Black Gate Miniatures (BGM) is relatively simple; i wanted to use a 10mm Ogre army and couldn't find a range to buy and that lead me to thinking about creating one. I've always loved Ogres, they are so different to any other race and really bring a lot of character to the table... The world deserves 10mm Ogres!!

I already own all the equipment needed to produce miniatures, namely a vulcanising press and centrifugal spincasting machine, and just needed a project to sink my teeth into, Ogres came along and gave me that opportunity.

As a new starter in the world of miniature production, how have you found the process to get to where you are now; first ks on the go and mini range being created?

The hard bit is finding the talent. I am a process kind of guy and really enjoy the production side of the miniatures. On the creative side, my imagination is good but turning that into art, sculpts or a decent paintjob isnt my strength. Luckily, i have some contacts, who have contacts, and we managed to put together a team of creative talent i am very, very happy with:

The kickstarter itself has been pretty painless to this point, although it is always a little scary exposing something you have worked on to public scrutiny!

The range is to be fully compatible with existing 10mm wargames, but we have seen talk of BGM producing its own system to support the Ogres and future ranges, how have plans progressed with this?

Ah yes, the three year plan! Year one is the "Year of the Ogre", year two will hopefully be the "Year of the Evil Dwarf" and then year three will see the release of the "Kings of the North" (KoTN) miniatures game. The game is set in the North and will feature battles between the different races that live in the cold wastes. I have some great ideas for the game but it will have to wait a while yet before being unleashed onto the world.

Im getting hold of some more preview casts to paint up on unit bases to give you all a better idea of the size and scale, and how well they match up to existing miniature ranges, more on this in a couple of days.

Black Gate Miniatures: Preview Ogres painted!

I've painted up the first of the preview Ogres i was given by Black Gate Miniatures:

I've done them in the same style as my army for Age of Sigmarines, and i have to say they were really nice to work with being large enough to paint singularly like small warhammer figure before transfering them to a 20x40mm Warmaster base.

My other preview minis i shall be painting up during the campaign itself, along with any other goodies i might be able to prize from Barry's hands hehe
