Happy New Years from Sneaky Peet!

Getting this in proper early as we are busy today and then have friends over this evening, Happy New Years peeps!

Last year i planned to simply reduce my lead mountain! I started the year on 383 and end the year on 359 haha, despite painting up and selling over 600... its a small decrease i suppose!

Edit - I actually went through more boxes and found this total was 735 eek!!!! Time to sell!!!

As with 2018, 2019 was massively busy for me with work, i painted 576 models in the last twelve months, a decent haul by any stretch but far lower than even last years total of 764. I can hope that this year is better but i doubt it, the nature of the beast of my industry is that we are all working longer days with odder shifts that massively impact my spare time to paint.

Its also time to consolidate down the number of armies i have for game systems... i have five for AoS and as much as i enjoy it i just dont play it enough to justify that. LotR again i have five armies, that total needs to drop down to two; a Good and an Evil force is all i need. A few other games that i have odd bits for but dont play also need to go!

I plan on sticking to a few key games and playing them each at least once a month:

Bolt Action

Then having some flavour games to bust out as needed:

A Song of Ice and Fire
Uncharted Seas
Kings of War

Now, here's my latest painted Godtear:

Sneaky Peet - Slayer Champion

Sneaky Stabbers - Followers of Peet

Five warbands to go now hehe

A Song of Ice and Fire: Neutral Heroes 2

My box of new Heroes arrived on Saturday and i got cracking last night hehe:

Walder Frey, Tycho Nestoris and Vargo Hoat

Jaqen H'Ghar and Daario Naharis

Its only taken eight months but i finally have some more options for my army! And it looks like there are plenty more to coming with other Stormcrow, Bloody Mummer and Rose Knights out at some point yeah.

A Song of Ice and Fire: Stormcrow Archers

First off, Happy Christmas peeps!

Second, finally some new releases that i can use for my House Bolton / Neutral army haha:

Stormcrow Archers

They aren't the best missile troops in the game by any stretch but they can provide a cheap home for decent unit attachments and by claiming the tactics zone you can get them to fire twice in a round, other units cant do these boom!

I spent my xmas money on these, the second neutral heroes box and a box of the Blackguards as i have arranged a game with a mate for the end of January.

Godtear: Shayle and Rattlebone

Finishing off the Shapers from this first wave of Godtear:

Shayle - Shaper Champion

Landslide - Follower of Shayle

Rattlebone - Shaper Champion

Hexlings - Followers of Rattlebone

Shayle is all about movement control from enemies and moving Landslide about to deliver some brutal attacks. Rattlebone manipulates the boons and blights across the board, changing them to your favour.

Godtear: Raith Marid

Been a bit of a slow week haha, got this Dragon Man finished today:

Raith Marid - Shaper Champion

Splashlings - Followers of Raith Marid

Not high on my list of must plays but im sure that will change when i get him on the table haha

Godtear: Rhodri, Thane of the Forsaken Hold

Everyone's favourite giant dwarf is ready to take to the field hehe:

Rhodri - Guardian Champion

Household Guards - Followers of Rhodri

These are some of the tankiest models in the game, with both Champion and Followers able to reach Armour 5! These chaps wont die quickly! The downside to this much resilience is a distinct lack of speed, with only the Wretchlings being slower than them so placement and support is key to getting the most out of those little legs.

Godtear: Lorsann, The Autumnal Wind

Busy week meant no painting for me but i have snatched a couple of hours today to complete these:

Lorsann - Slayer Champion

Mistwood Rangers - Followers of Lorsann

The true ranged Slayer in the game, she packs a multitude of different shots to give her an option into a wide variety of models.

The Rangers also aid by applying debuffs and can help finish off a wounded champion with their decent bow fire.

Godtear: Nia and Half Tusk

Two more Champions & Followers today, Nia and Half Tusk are ready for some table time:

Nia - Shaper Champion

Quartzlings - Followers of Nia

Half Tusk - Guardian Champion

Froglodytes - Followers of Half Tusk

These give me one of each class painted up now, Nia is a Gnome Geomancer who can manipulate objective hexes and hand out a few boons and blights where needed.

Half Tusk is a mighty Troll who with his frogs can guard and move banners about to keep them ptotected. He is also pretty handy in a fight, with two attack actions for the price of one and currently the only in game source of healing hehe.

Also, 1000 posts! Eight years this blog has run for now!

Godtear: Rangosh and Grimgut

My pledge for Godtear finally arrived and the club is all hyped for getting some games in so these have gone straight to the top of the queue hehe.

First up are Rangosh and Grimgut:

Rangosh - Slayer Champion

Red Bandits - Followers of Rangosh

Grimgut - Maelstrom Champion

Wretchlings - Followers of Grimgut

The models in this game are divided into four classes: Slayers(Red), Maelstrom (Yellow), Shapers (Green) and Guardians (Blue). Each gains certain bonuses to scoring such as killing champs or followers or planting banners etc, but the best thing about it is how different each Champion n Followers set are from each other within the class itself.

My planned starting warband of three Champions n Followers is Rangosh, Grimgut and Nia who is currently on the paint table... The plan is to support Rangosh in killing enemy Champions by buffing his high damage but low accuracy attacks!

I have painted the base rings to match the class for ease of identification of the class types.

Lord of the Rings: Uruk Hai with Bows

Another warband of Uruk Hai for my Cirith Ungol force:

Not commonly seen on the boards outside of an Isengard scout force hehe, but they still have Str 4 and a good Shoot value of 4+ so might as well use it!

Kings of War: Ratkin Lord of Blights

A mate of mine signed up for a 1000pt Kings of War tourney in February which gave me the impetus to jump back into the system after quite a hiatus!

I was umming and arring over what faction to pick having previously used Undead, Abyssal Dwarves, Herd and Varangur, when i spied a pick showing official Mantic conversions of Warpath Veer-Myn models with orc or goblin weapons to make som very cool Ratkin models and i was sold.

Im starting off with this, a Lord of Blights:

Based on a special character Veer-Myn from Deadzone but given a fantasy combat arm i think it looks pretty cool to be fair.

I have quite a lot of Veer-Myn coming for Xmas from the family so will really be able to crack on in the new year!

He-Man Miniatures Game: Spikor

This one has been a long time coming but im glad its finally arrived!

Spikor is the latest of these created and definitely one of my favorites hehe

Lord of The Rings: Mordor Uruk Hai

Starting up my Cirith Ungol themed expansion to my Barad Dur / Mordor collection with these Mordor Uruk Hai:

I have yet to face them on the board as they are often overlooked for Morannon Orcs as they are more expensive and have no option for spears but the models were cool and it was simple enough to swap some weapons and add shields to them.

Lord of The Rings: Barad-Dur reinforcements

A few more bits completed for my Barad Dur force:

Ringwraith on foot & mounted

Orc Captain on foot & mounted

Warg Rider

I'd like another big hitter in the force to take some heat from Sauron so im thinking of a Mordor Troll and maybe Shelob to be picked up in the near future hehe

Age of Sigmar: Rogue Idol!!!

Rounding out my Pigsplitterz for now is this bad boy:

This is the second Idol i've painted up hehe, the last was many years ago for my old Ironjawz army back in 1st ed.... now its back and improved with Bonesplitterz / Ironjawz keywords so can make use of all the superb buffs from within the factions.

Wednesday, 13 November 2019

Age of Sigmar: Savage Boys and a Wardokk

Ive finished up the last of my Pigsplitterz infantry dudes at last:

This leaves me with a nice 400pt space in my list for a Rogue Idol haha, i had one a few years ago but sold him so ive ordered another and will get it smashed out as soon as it arrives!

Bolt Action: Bringing the Rain... Hungarian Nebelwerfer!

A quick addition to my Honved with this dirty beast; A Nebelwerfer haha

These multi launchers have the ability to devastate squads but only hit on 6's... if you can roll it then then those boys are toast!

Monday, 4 November 2019

Age of Sigmar: Savage Boar Boys

Back off holiday and feeling ready to paint again with a new addition to my Pigsplitterz army:

Savage Boar Boys got a big boost in the new book, getting two more attacks for the riders and hit/wound buffs on the charge like proper cavalry!

Bolt Action: Hungarian Pancelrem & Anti Tank Rifle Team

A couple of quick reinforcements for my mighty Magyars ahead of a game on wednesday:

Pancelcrem Team

Anti Tank Rifle Team

A Pancelrem is rather similar to a bazooka, and in game terms its a few points cheaper than a Panzerschrek hehe. The rifle is just that, a cheap team to threaten light vehicles etc but wont do anything to serious armour.

Now if only my Nebelwerfer will show up today!

Relicblade and Lord of the Rings: Bad to the Bone!

Busy busy busy, i finished up these small projects last night but never got round to posting them doh!

Relicblade - Bones & Darkness Faction with a Bone Fury and Vandas Greycloak

Relicblade - Berzerker Pig for the Battle Pigs

Lord of the Rings - Castellans of Dol Guldor

Now that the extra heads have arrived for my Pigsplitterz i can get cracking with them again, just another small project or two to go.

Lord of the Rings: Warg Riders

Better late than never! Got some time to finish these today, only 4 days after they were needed haha:

That's all the current minis i have for my "Barad Dur" force, next up will be branching into regular Mordor with some not commonly seen Mordor Uruk-Hai.

Thursday, 10 October 2019

Lord of the Rings: Orc Shaman on Warg

Next up is a second warband leader in the form of a Shaman on Warg with dismount:

Not massively useful anymore given access to Sauron and Ringwraiths for casting but its a nice model that's oop and i was able to acquire it for a decent price!

Monday, 7 October 2019

Lord of the Rings: Orcs! Thousands of them!

Well not quite thousands hehe, but a full warband of 24 Orcs for Sauron's warband for sure:

Hand Weapon and Shields

Spears and Banner

These older metals are a joy to paint up, far better than the more recent plastics! Im glad i picked up quite a lot of them for this project... just a few plastic spears to bulk out the numbers from a mate.

The Shaman and warg riders are coming along nicely, hopefully finished in the next day or so too.

Lord of the Rings: Sauron, The Dark Lord of Barad-Dur

I actually painted him last monday morning but before he was dry i was out sorting my kids dentist visit and the dinner and then washing etc haha

Then it was a mad week covering one of our big sites at work so i never got chance to even post a pic of him until now!

Now, Sauron wouldn't be any good just on his own so i am building up a 700pt Barad-Dur force for our inaugural Chelmsford in Flames LoTR tourney next weekend. I am running the event so im lending out my regular Azogs Legion and Return of the King LL forces to people so will be the ringer with just this one list hehe.

The rest of my force that i have to paint by friday evening is:

1 Shaman on Warg
1 Shaman on Foot

12 Orcs with Shield
11 Orcs with Spear
1 Orc with Banner
6 Warg Riders

Wish me luck!

Dreadball: Sulentic Shards Crystalian Team

A quick team paint job for a friend of mine who wanted his next tourney team completed asap hehe:

These guys come as a translucent blue plastic but being able to keep that and paint in my style was not going to happen so i had to create a new crystal blue scheme for the bodies.

Age of Sigmar: Savage Orruk Boys

A productive day of hobbying as got me back on course for the clubs league:

A second unit of Savage boys to fill out my ranks a bit! I have now run out of my stockpile of hog heads so more have been ordered from Maxmini, hopefully they will arrive in the next week or so to enable me to start on Octobers models as soon as the month begins.

Friday, 20 September 2019

Age of Sigmar: Bonesplitterz Wardokks and Arrowboys

Its been a while! Only managed to get a bit of painting done on monday and then finished them off last night:

The Arrowboys are to add to my existing unit to make a 20 and bring some more shots to the board hehe, the Wardokks are spellcasters with a random buff each turn... i can see them changing a bit with the new book to make them more reliable and useful.

I have some free time over the weekend so plan to paint up another 10 regular boys to take me to 1000pts painted for our club league night on wednesday.

He-Man Miniatures Game: Brightmoon Guards and Evil Warriors

Some more reinforcements for Castle Brightmoon and Snake Mountain todays:

Brightmoon Guards - Great Rebellion

Human Warriors - Evil Warriors

Two groups of less common filmation and literature fighters with the Brightmoon Guards appearing in a few episodes of She-Ra but in a red and orange scheme, very different from the standard blues of Brightmoon.

The evil humans i believe only appeared in a few of the ladybird books but and some more variety to Skeletor's forces!
